We are a collective of cycling enthusiasts and local experts passionate about sharing the beauty of Japan. Our mission is to provide authentic stories and practical tips to help cyclists from around the world enjoy the ultimate riding experience in Japan.

For those dreaming of the ultimate Japanese cycling odyssey, the wait is over. Starting April 5, 2026, world-renowned creator CDawgVA (Connor Colquhoun) will embark on Cyclethon 5, a massive 1,300km charity ride from the northern tip of Honshu to the vibrant heart of Osaka.

Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or a fan of Japanese culture, this event offers a front-row seat to the country’s most breathtaking—and often overlooked—landscapes.

The Route: 1,300km Through Japan’s “Hidden” Side

Unlike previous years that concluded in Tokyo, Cyclethon 5 challenges the riders with a fresh 14-day itinerary along the Sea of Japan coast.

  •
The Start: The journey begins in Oma, Aomori, the northernmost point of mainland Japan.

  •
The Path: The 1,300km route winds through the scenic prefectures of Akita, Niigata, Toyama, Fukui, and Kyoto.

  •
The Finish: For the first time, the grand finale will take place in Osaka on April 19.

(Details subject to change)

This route is a dream for cycle tourists, offering long stretches of coastal roads, dramatic sunsets over the Sea of Japan, and a transition from the rugged north to the historic temples of Kyoto and the bustling streets of Osaka.

Pedaling for a Purpose

Cyclethon is more than just a test of endurance; it is a global movement to support those battling Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID). CDawgVA began this journey in 2022 to support his friend, the popular VTuber Ironmouse, who lives with the condition.

  •
Total Impact: Since its inception, the project has raised over 400 million yen (approx. $2.8M USD).

  • Record Breaking: The 2025 event alone saw a staggering 150 million yen ($1.04M USD) in donations.

  • The Beneficiary: Every yen raised is donated to the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) to support patients and research.

Join the Community

One of the most inspiring aspects of Cyclethon is the community it builds. Last year, massive crowds of fans gathered at the finish line to celebrate the completion of the grueling journey. This year, Japan travel expert Chris Broad (Abroad in Japan) will once again join CDawgVA for the entire ride, ensuring plenty of wit, local insights, and cultural highlights along the way.
